The report correlates findings of other studies and applicable information from government sources as to the potential for port facilities at Richmond, California, looking toward 1980 and 1995. Particular attention is given traffic projections, containerization, and environmental conditions. Recommendations include efforts to add at least four and as many as eight new container berths by the end of 1973. The report also gives backup data on comparative advantages which Richmond possesses compared with other bay area ports, including low costs, available land, superior rail capabilities to serve inland markets, and minimal fill, dredging, and environmental problems.
