The report will therefore first address the political and military context before deailing with the specific air power issues themselves. The main focus will be on the Bosnia-Herzegovina mission, but some attention will be given to related events in the neighbouring countries. The first topics are the conflict, the evolution of strategy, the UN and NATO in former Yugoslavia, and the evolution of operations. The air power utilities will be discussed in the categories of airspace control, air transport, observation and force application. A subsequent analysis of the significance of air power will be angled at enabling and disabling manoeuvres, observation and force application, and finally a conclusion is presented.
