Rail impact tests of SERGEANT motor and guidance section shipping containers were conducted at Redstone Arsenal on 14 and 16 March 1962. These tests were conducted to determine the degree of protection provided for missile sections by the shipping containers during low velocity impact of railroad cars. Approved procedures for blocking and strapping shipping containers on a railroad flatcar were also tested. Test results and conclusions are presented in the text of this report. (Author)
