A description is given of the European Space Tribology Laboratory (ESTL). This laboratory performs three distinct, though related, functions: mechanism testing for ESA and European space companies, development program in support of all ESA programs, and consultancy service in space tribology. The laboratory is operated by the British National Centre of Tribology. The facilities available at ESTL are outlined. A list of ESTL reports is included.
