Simulated aerodynamic forces and moments of a 300 to 500 km/h magnetic suspension railway were used in an extended control concept with magnetic control. The vehicle motion is described by two independent differential equation systems, one for the symmetrical-lateral motion, the other for the unsymmetrical side motion. The main variable controled by the system is the forward speed. Disturbances such as component failure, rail sagging and wind effects are considered. The use of stabilizer fins with rudders and an adaptive control systems is discussed.
