The stability aspects of the main deck of glass-reinforced polyester ships was studied. The deck under consideration had three longitudinal stiffeners and several transverse stiffeners. At intervals of 9.000 mm the stiffened panel was supported by transverse frames, while longitudinal support was provided by the side hull of the ship. The geometry of the longitudinal and transverse stiffeners is given. The longitudinal stiffener was weakened at the intersection with a transverse stiffener, which affects the stiffness of the longitudinal stiffener and induces peak stresses near the cut-out.
