The expeditionary aerospace force effort is a promising new force- management framework to maintain the Air Force as a global-force provider. General Cook, who was at the helm of much of its development, and his coauthors introduce the engagement-spectrum model, which links small-scale commitments to those of major theater war and its econstitution requirements. This model enables the measurement of force-commitment levels and can warn of unsustainable levels that require action and/or additional funding from decision makers. The authors challenge us to apply the model at all levels of the Air Force to stabilize our units, raise retention, and ensure our readiness for global engagement in the twenty-first century.
