Space system availability prediction is the process of estimating the likelihood that a space system will be available to perform its assigned mission, as a function of time. The ability to make these predictions accurately is fundamental to the efficient employment of Air Force resources. Availability prediction is based on the estimated reliability of individual spacecraft and the components of which they are comprised. This study made use of response surface methodology to determine the sensitivity of the system availability prediction to the estimated reliabilities of individual spacecraft components. (JES)
