This document announces the conclusions of the EPA evaluation of the 'Automotive Cylinder Deactivator System' device under provisions of section 511 of the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act. On October 2, 1979, the EPA received a request from ACDS, Inc. for evaluation of a fuel saving device termed 'Automotive Cylinder Deactivator System (ACDS).' This device is designed to deactivate engine cylinders as a means of increasing a vehicle's fuel economy.
