In the scope of the project, warning and counteraction system (WCS) in network centric warfare, a scenario six with different cases (situations) have been studied in order to illustrate and clarify the function of WCS in a network for a unit of combat vehicles (CV). The unit, a platoon (three-CV-90) from a mechanized squadron advancing in a file is attacked by a launched antitank missile. Depending on the case the CV's are equipped with different types of sensors (mainly missile approach warning (MAW), laser warning receiver (LWR) and optic surveillance) and countermeasures. The MAW system detects and alerts for a fired missile and the vehicles are protected by their own countermeasures. Information about the threat and in what direction, etc. is broadcasted to all vehicles in the platoon with the primary aim to protect the threatened CV and for the other two CV's defeat the threat in co-operation. Also the counteraction will be taken in co-operation, but individually for each CV. For the different cases, the action of each CV, with its given sensors and countermeasures, has been analyzed in detail and highly resolved in time. Efficient sensors, correctly utilized, combined with co-ordinated actions the threatened CV can use its countermeasures for its own survival while the other CV can be used to target acquisition and defeating.
