The study was organized into two phases, with the initiation of Phase II, Site Selection, dependent upon positive results of Phase I. This report describes the analysis and findings of the study which had four objectives: to examine the potential for air service improvements in the Old West Region, for economic and industrial stimulation, for relief of currently congested airports, and examine the economic and financial feasibility of such an airport. The report presents information to demonstrate the need and feasibility of the airport, and recommends five major actions be taken: endorsement by the Old West Regional Commission and each of the Old West states, development of an effective commuter system, provision of appropriate connecting service to the airports by some of the major airlines, support of CAB for the necessary air route authorizations, and approval by the FAA of the airport.
