A design was developed for a new type of impact energy absorber. This device would be expected to demonstrate favorable application to vehicle occupant safety in crash and secondary impact events. Simulation data involving impacts between an anthropometric dummy head and the absorber is presented to illustrate occupant protection performance under various impact loading conditions.
