Motor combinations to achieve microgravity periods of 12 to 20 min using sounding rockets are discussed. Common to all are impact dispersion problems, especially when land impact is preferred for payload recovery reasons. The possibilities to launch such a sounding rocket from Esrange (Sweden) are assessed. The dispersion is kept within the range limits by using the flight proven S19 boost guidance system for the initial part of the trajectory. The result is low first stage dispersion and high launch wind tolerance. The SPINRAC system handles dispersion for the exoatmospheric part of the motor burn. The SPINRAC repoints the motor before ignition to maintain a short impact range.
