A test program conducted by the U.S. Army Avionics Research and Development Activity (AVRADA) to determine the level of velocity accuracy achievable with Global Positioning System (GPS) is described. The precision of the reference instrumentation and the availability of the GPS receiver measurement data were exploited to characterize the errors in GPS observables. An investigation into the performance benefits of GPS and inertial integration is described.
