Operational Maneuver From The Sea (OMFTS) is a new way of thinking about an old subject--amphibious operations. Revolutionary tactics and technologies, currently emerging, enhance the potential for rapid power projection in the world's littorals, specifically in the area of ship to objective maneuver. To support this concept, the assault amphibian battalions within the Marine division will be equipped with the Advanced Assault Amphibian Vehicle (AAAV) which is currently in the conceptual stage of development, and may be notionally organized with 230 vehicles to lift the surface assault element of a Marine Expeditionary Force.
