The Powers Highway serves the inland portion of southern Coos County. Logging and farming activities contribute greatly to its use, with recreation and commuting traffic making up the balance. The section of road to be rebuilt will include two 12-foot travel lanes and 4-foot shoulders. The improvement of the section is expected generally to benefit all modes of transportation using this route. With the exception of effects created locally and individually by the acquisition of private land for public use as reflected in loss of crop production and taxes, the project is considered to have no significant adverse environmental impacts. There are no public parks, recreation facilities or historic landmarks affected by this proposal.
