The report is concerned with the objects, methods, and history of aviation psychology; characteristics of mental processes in the pilot's work: problems of attention, thought, memory, emotions, and the psychomotor sys tem; psychological analysis of flying: psychological characteristics of practice of flight, flying by instruments, and high-altitude, speed, and space flights; special problems of aviation psychology: psychological rationalization of flight training, the regime of flying and rest, aviation engineering; psychological research in the practice of medical-aviation expertise. General theoretical information and descriptions of the method of studying the flying abilities of students and pilots and their erroneous actions are cited, and methods of analyzing the causes of flight accidents are considered from psychological positions. By means of concrete examples it is shown that it is important to consider the laws of psychology in the different activities of flying.
