A flutter theory based on modified Yates hydrodynamic loading was used to predict the flutter characteristics of five hydrofoil flutter models. Theoretical flutter speeds were noted when flutter was predicted to occur in a predominantly bending mode and when flutter was predicted to occur in a predominantly torsional mode. The theory may be useful for hydrofoils which are susceptible to flutter in a torsional mode. (Author)
