The report is primarily concerned with the transportation component of the Appalachian Regional Development Program. The rationale for selecting the location of each of the Appalachian corridors is described: linking major economic centers in Appalachia; opening up new sites for development; and enlarging the commuting fields by constructing new highways through the more isolated sections.
