The report demonstrates some of the functional relationships between traffic, land use and population in three medium-sized English towns. Traffic is measured in terms of the number of trips generated by traffic zones in each town. Trips are classified by the purpose for which they were made and are considered to be either produced or attracted by a zone. The numbers of trips in each category are used as dependent variables in analyses of linear relationships. (Author)
