The objective of the study was to determine the feasibility of a four-man crew consisting of two pilots, a flight engineer and a Flight System Operator, to fly C-141 missions. The test results indicated that the airland mission can be accomplished with a four-man crew. Presently for a combat airlift mission (airdrop) the most optimal crew composition would be two pilots, navigator and flight engineer. With additional training, it might be feasible to substitute a Flight Systems Operator for navigator in the combat airlift mission.
