The report describes some experiments using short side-lines instead of the more usual rectangular markings to indicate parking stalls. These experiments showed that at sites free from obstructions significant improvements in effective aisle width or road width could be achieved by the use of short side-lines, which induced drivers to park their cars deeper in the stalls.
