The bus industry in South Africa offers three types of training courses: (1) traffic courses; (2) technical courses; and (3) managerial and administrative courses, which also fall into the categories of registered and unregistered courses. Although training facilities are run throughout the country by various bus companies, the training is of a fragmentary nature. It is proposed that a transport school or college be established as a central training body which coordinates training activities and offers training at economic, management, engineering, technical and operating levels.
