Thin-film multilayer electrochromic coatings for thermal control of spacecraft were designed, built and tested. Design was for a 300 degrees K spacecraft, but coatings would also work well for warmer surface emittance control. Changes in emissivity of dE=0.2, and ratios of 'on' to 'off' emissivity were as high as 3.5. Further work is needed to improve reproducibility of results and long-term stability.
