An 8000 psi hydraulic lateral control system was installed in a T-2C airplane. Four pilots evaluated the test installation, accumulating 11.5 flight hours. Operational characteristics were very similar to the original 3000 psi system. The 8000 psi installation functioned exceptionally well. Successful completion of this project confirmed that 8000 psi lightweight hydraulic systems can be designed, fabricated, and maintained without special techniques or state-of-the-art advances.
