Experiments of Earth observation were selected for a NADIR-oriented space shuttle mission. The application fields are Earth observation over land and water, cartography, and climate research. Accommodation of the different experiments on the Spacelab pallet was investigated. It is demonstrated that the pallet is unnecessary when an experiment support structure configurated by standard elements is used. Moreover the mission costs can be reduced by approximately 25 percent.
