The response function of the railway track due to a traveling vertical point load running over the track with constant velocity is calculated. The rail is modeled as a Euler beam. The most important feature of the study is that the traveling of the load is fully taken into account. The complex Fourier transform is used. The response is specialized to the contact point. The expression takes the form of a convolution equation, with the vertical displacement left, and the intensity of the vertical point load and an influence function right. An integral representation of the influence function is given. The calculation should be extended to tangential loads.
