The New Jersey Department of Transportation's Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan presents a collective vision, policy and action plan for improving the bicycling and walking environment throughout the state. The plan is part of a comprehensive planning process that was mandated in the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991(ISTEA) and is in accordance with the fullfillment of NJDOT'S long standing policy to address bicycle and pedestrian concerns. It serves as a Strategic Planning Model for bicycling and walking modes and will be incorporated into the NJDOT Long Range Transportation Plan. The plan was created by NJDOT, other agencies, organizations and citizens who worked together to develop strategies that will promote and improve mobility by providing people with viable choices of transportation modes. This document is just one of a series of products which are part of the overall planning effort to address bicyclist and pedestrian needs. Other products developed in conjunction with this plan are took for implementation of the plan's proposed strategies.
