The study is an evaluation of the traffic operations before and after various geometric revisions and installation of traffic signals were made at two diamond interchanges. The final phase report shows the operational problems, which existed at the beginning of the study, have been fully corrected. Relocation of frontage road terminals, addition of right-turn channels, installation of actuated traffic signals, addition of median barriers and widening ramps and intersections have been found effective in improving the quality of service to both interchanges and surrounding areas. Even though traffic volumes have generally increased over the study period, queue lengths and delay time were decreased at previously congested elements of the interchange. (BPR abstract)
