The diffraction problem between two fixed slender ships moving in oblique waves is formulated. The boundary value problem is linearized with the assumption of small wave amplitude and motion response and solved by the method of integral equation. For keeping the convective term, i.e. U x , a three-dimensional ϕ D is assumed in the strip theory. After integrating the pressure and the exciting force, the three-dimensional potential is replaced by the two-dimensional one which can be solved by the kinematical boundary conditions on each contour. The hydrodynamic interaction between two ships with speed effect is included, which causes significantly different results from the single ship case. Two models, Series 60 ship and Mariner, are used for calculations. For lack of experimental data, the comparions are only made with the single ship to see the effect of the hydrodynamic interaction. The effects of the interaction and speed with different clearances are concluded to be important and can not be neglected.
