EUROSCOPE builds upon the results and infrastructure produced within the DRIVE II project SCOPE to demonstrate a number of integrated Advanced Transport Telematic (ATT) applications. Within the United Kingdom, this will be achieved through the continuation and expansion of the ROMANSE project in Southampton and South Hampshire. EUROSCOPE (Efficient Urban tRansport Operations Services and Cooperation Of Ports cities in Europe) has “port cities” as the common theme. It has expanded the original SCOPE consortium of Cologne, Hampshire, and Piraeus, within the European Union fourth framework programme, to include Rotterdam, Strasbourg, Genoa, Hamburg, as new “core” partners with Cork, and Brandenburg, as followers, each region having a major port facility. The emphasis of the project is on the provision of large scale demonstrators which have a direct application for the cities, port or operator and which, in turn, will be inter-operable throughout Europe. The EUROSCOPE consortium includes regional authorities, public transport operators, port and transhipment centres, industrial system providers, broadcasters, transport consultancies and research specialists.
