This paper proposes a novel accelerated hybrid flux-weakening (FW) algorithm with an overmodulation method. In three-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine drives, the FW and overmodulation methods are widely implemented beyond the base speed. In this paper, a hybrid FW controller, combining the feedforward and the feedback FW strategies, is proposed and tested in a Matlab/Simulink model. The feedforward look-up tables provide the current references at the operating point, and the feedback FW controller compensates for the error caused by the parameter uncertainties. Meanwhile, The dynamic-state accelerator (DSA) is implemented to improve the convergence time of the torque, and the overmodulation method is implemented to expand the speed-torque envelope of the machine. The feedback FW controller is tuned with the help of the small-signal analysis. The simulation results demonstrate a stable performance with extended torque-speed envelope using the proposed control method.
