With the increasing integration of digital technologies in power systems, the vulnerability of critical infrastructure, such as transmission lines, to cyberattacks has become a significant concern. This study focuses on assessing the performance of distance relays, a crucial component in the protective relay system, against cyber threats in transmission lines. The research employs a comprehensive approach, combining theoretical analysis and simulation studies to evaluate the robustness of distance relays in the face of cyberattacks. Various cyberattack scenarios, including malicious communication interference, data manipulation, and false data injection attacks, are considered to gauge the relay's ability to operate accurately and swiftly under adversarial conditions. This research has simulated the common types of attacks with randomize concept in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment for two bus system model that is applicable in real time situation. Simulations are performed to replicate potential cyber threats and measure the impact on distance relay operations.
