Target "glint" (the difference between the phase-front gradient of the scattered field and the true target direction vector) is related to the analytic properties of the scattered field. The resulting model is used to reinterpret diversity methods for glint reduction and to more accurately specify system requirements. A relationship for estimating the best possible improvement in target bearing estimation is also developed.<>
