The transportation sector is one of the largest sources of China GHG emissions. Understanding the future development trend of transportation GHG emissions is of great significance for guiding low-carbon transportation planning. To this end, this paper presents an estimation method of road traffic GHG emissions in planning year in counties based on road traffic planning and design indicators. The biggest advantage of this method is that it requires less data than the traditional energy-based bottom-up approach. The calculation result in Changxing county shows that this method can effectively estimate the carbon emissions of road traffic in the planning year.
