The paper discusses the analysis of ECG (electrocardiogram) in order to determine the moment of transition from a state of wakefulness to a state of drowsiness of the vehicle driver. A portable device for getting ECG using the first standard lead has been developed. The signal is collected using electrodes built into the steering wheel or driver’s vest and transmitted to a processing device via Bluetooth technology. A spectral analysis of the recorded ECG is carried out using the method of R.M. Baevsky. A decision-making algorithm has been developed and implemented to detect the driver’s transition from wakefulness to drowsiness, if detected, an alarm is generated.
