The advancement of faster and more efficient railway vehicles necessitates robust onboard fault detection systems to enhance railway assets. Real-time condition monitoring is pivotal in minimizing maintenance inefficiencies and bolstering safety through timely diagnoses of onboard train systems. Despite notable progress in onboard monitoring, achieving continuous real-time monitoring remains challenging. However, declining costs and electronic device miniaturization have made implementing wireless sensor networks onboard trains increasingly feasible. In this paper, a low-cost, non-invasive monitoring system will be presented for integration into passenger and freight train carriages to preempt faults and accidents. The proposed system aims to detect anomalies in real-time and disseminate critical information to both the train conductors and a Remote Monitoring Center.
