This paper describes a concept for detecting, geo-locating, and reporting intentional or unintentional GPS RFI in airborne applications. Airborne platforms could automatically report GPS receiver outages through existing aviation communication services, such as ARINC's GLOBALink, to inform operations centers of potential GPS interference. Timely and accurate information would provide controllers with the opportunity to redirect instrument traffic and initiate procedures to further investigate the interfering source. The paper includes an overview of the GPS interference problem, current data link capabilities, and a notional implementation of the concept.
