Monitoring of power distribution system (DS) in real-time has become necessary because of the two way flow of electrical power to ensure power system security and reliability. In this context the device called Micro-phasor measurement unit (m-PMU) is proficient monitoring equipment utilized to monitor the DS in real-time. This device is equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) and provides synchronized data which is decisive for the state estimator program to increase the accuracy of DS state estimates. In this research work, a linear state estimator model (LSEM) using the state estimates from conventional Weighted Least Square (WLS) method and m-PMU voltage and current measurements is implemented to enhance the accuracy of the final state estimates. The LSEM performance with hybrid measurements is tested, and validated, on IEEE-33 bus to establish the efficacy of including m-PMU measurements with conventional measurements in the state estimator program. Further, bad data is detection is done using standard chi-square test and accuracy of the results is verified.
