Due to the high content of sub- and super- stator MMF components of Fractional-Slot Concentrated-Windings (FSCW) Permanent Magnet Machine, high eddy current losses will be induced inevitably. To diminish the eddy current losses, a simple multi-layer winding design method for FSCW is presented. The proposed method is derived from winding function, and both winding factor and loss factor are considered. Three different multi-layer windings are designed by the proposed method for an 18 slots-16 poles FSCW. Finite element analysis is employed to validate the proposed method.
