Metamaterial is an artificial material with negative permittivity and negative permeability. In this paper, the analytical theory of meta material rod has been formulated and dispersion relation is numerically investigated for lower order transverse magnetic modes (TM), transverse electric modes (TE) and hybrid modes (HE and EH) in guided mode. Also, the comparison is given between dielectric rod waveguide and metamaterial rod waveguide.
