Compared to components available for terrestrial applications, the availability of space-grade DC/DC converters for isolated auxiliary power supplies is very limited. This paper presents a general structure for an auxiliary power supply and proposes five different designs exhibiting low footprint and fault tolerance. The experimental results show that each design is a feasible solution as an auxiliary power supply. Furthermore, the advantages and disadvantages of each design is discussed. Overall, this paper aims to inspire industry in developing integrated commercially available solutions, simplifying electronics design.
