Exhaustion of petrol & diesel, increasing prices of fuels, and an ambitious program by Indian government has encouraged multidisciplinary research on electric vehicles & variety of EV charging stations as an alternative to conventional ICE vehicles. The charging infrastructure is the core requirement of electric vehicle market growth. At present scenario, lack of charging infrastructure and higher battery prices remain a major concern area for mass adaptation of EV's. This paper discusses how EV charging infrastructure is one of the major impediment for EV adaptation in India. In this context, analysis here explains the factors affecting EV adaptation, the available charging infrastructure in India, charging standards, challenges in growth of charging infrastructure and development needs are clearly explained.
