This study presents a novel three-channel independent integrated guidance and control (IGC) method for reentry vehicle actuated by two moving masses, regarding the coupling among the pitch, yaw and roll channels as external disturbance, which makes the most of the overall performance of guidance and control system. Initially, three-channel independent IGC models are employed by combining the vehicle-target relative motion model with the nonlinear dynamics of the moving mass actuated vehicle, which establishes a direct relationship between the vehicle-target relative motion and the displacement of moving masses. Subsequently, IGC algorithms of the pitch, yaw and roll channels of moving mass actuated vehicle are designed respectively using backstepping approach, in which robust adaptive function is introduced to compensate for the uncertainties and nonlinear tracking differentiator is introduced to reduce the “compute explosion” problem. It is proved that tracking errors of the state and the upper bound of the uncertainties converge to the neighborhoods of the origin exponentially. Finally, numerical simulation is carried out for three-dimensional reentry problem, demonstrating the correctness and validity of the three-channel independent IGC models and robust adaptive backstepping IGC algorithm.
