As India strives to fulfill its vision of an all-electric vehicle industry by 2030, electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturing have become the need of the hour. In India, despite a myriad of challenges and obstacles, electric vehicles (EVs) are steadily gaining traction. The paper proposes the implementation criteria for converting an existing engine rickshaw to the futuristic electric rickshaw. The hardware requirements related to this conversion is also mentioned in the paper. For the conversion, a motor driven transmission system is incorporated into the rickshaw. As a further extension to this work, solar panels can be mounted atop the vehicle to supply power assisting or if possible replacing the battery power to the motor, hence making the vehicle into a solar powered electric vehicle.
