In this article, we explore the coherent frequency diverse array (FDA) radar for moving target indication (MTI). FDA radar enjoys wide space coverage because of its autoscanning feature of transmit beampattern. Motivated by this advantage, we propose an angle-dependent matched filtering (ADMF) algorithm to account for the angle-dependent envelop of FDA radar due to transmit beampattern modulation. It is verified that the ADMF simultaneously realizes pulse compression and transmit beamforming. An MTI procedure can be performed following the ADMF. Therefore, a fundamental signal processing scheme consisting of ADMF and MTI procedures is proposed, which can be implemented in parallel thus to cover the interested space. Besides, the range and angle resolutions of the coherent FDA radar are derived, where linear frequency modulation wave is utilized as baseband waveform. We further explore the coherent subarray FDA scheme, which leverages the space coverage and power efficiency for considering the practical applications. Simulation examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
