Electric vehicles have gained significant traction as a sustainable alternative to traditional combustion engine vehicles. However, enhancing their efficiency remains a paramount challenge for widespread adoption. This paper focuses on applying Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) technology in Field-Oriented Control (FOC) of IPMSM Drives to augment the efficiency of EVs. The MTPA Technique aims to fine-tune motor efficiency by regulating the current supplied. In the context of EVs, the key components are the IPMSM motor and battery bank, whose specifications are determined based on calculations of total load, required torque, aerodynamic drag, grading resistance, and rolling resistance. Performance evaluation is conducted using MATLAB/Simulink, assessing parameters like Speed vs Time, Current vs Time, Torque vs Time, and KWH vs Time. The paper aims to advance EV technology by providing a comprehensive methodology for increasing efficiency, thereby facilitating the transition to sustainable transportation solutions.
