Unmanned aircraft systems foster a faster technological evolution path than manned aircraft as their application requires higher performance and/or automation while their implementation highlights power density constraints. While safety assurance methods are being evaluated with respect to hardware and software evolutions for applicability on a medium to long term horizon, issues may be already pertinent with unmanned aircraft systems. The paper summarizes a few relevant concerns and briefly provide recommendations. These concerns are being investigated so no document is available yet to support the demonstration of safety assurance in these contexts.
