Half-Rotating Wing (HRW) is a new type of analogous flapping wing system with rotating flapping used as a substitute for oscillating flapping. Estimating method of flight lift generated by HRW was one of the significant theoretical basis to design air vehicle. The working principle of HRW based on Half-Rotating Mechanism (HRM) together with the spanwise airflow and chordwise airflow generated during the whole motion was firstly introduced in this paper. On the basis of analyzed mechanism of lift formation for forward flight by HRW, the lift estimating model of HRW was deduced. Futhermore, forward flight for HRW with different flight conditions could be calculated by the model. Then the theoretical results were comparied with simulation results that obtained by XFLOW software, which indicated that the above estimating approach was potent and feasible.
