This paper presents an analysis and implementation of a switching vector control scheme for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive using a digital signal processor (DSP). Firstly, the field orientated vector control theory of PMSM and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation ( SVPWM ) method are presented. Then a DSP-based full-digital PMSM servo system is developed with power circuit, control hardware and software. The hardware circuits consist of power driving circuit, the power supply circuit and the sensor circuit etc. All the algorithms are implemented in assembly language of DSP- TMS320LF2812. The experimental performance along with test results of the PMSM drive are studied with switching control for switched reference speed perturbation. The control system succeeds to carry out the vector control algorithm on PMSM with superior speed response.
